Abstract

Background: Burn injuries constitute a considerable global health issue, impacting millions each year and resulting in serious physical, psychological, and economic repercussions. Nurses are essential in burn treatment, delivering interventions that facilitate wound healing, prevent infection, and support psychological recovery. Notwithstanding progress in burn treatment, it is essential to consolidate knowledge about the particular impact of nursing on recovery results.

Aim: This paper seeks to evaluate the most recent evidence regarding nursing interventions in burn care and their effects on recovery outcomes, emphasizing wound management, infection prevention, and psychological support.

Methods: A comprehensive review of peer-reviewed literature from 2015 to 2024 was performed utilizing databases including PubMed, CINAHL, and Scopus. Articles were chosen for their emphasis on nursing-specific treatments in burn management and quantifiable patient outcomes. Research not pertinent to nursing or failing to meet the inclusion criteria was excluded. The results were thematically summarized to assess the efficacy of nursing interventions.

Results: Evidence demonstrates that nursing-led wound care, incorporating improved dressing methods and adherence to evidence-based protocols, markedly enhances healing and diminishes complications. Infection control strategies, including aseptic procedures and patient education, correlate with reduced infection rates and lower mortality. Psychological support interventions, such as therapeutic communication and stress reduction techniques, boost mental health outcomes and facilitate overall rehabilitation.

Conclusion: Nursing interventions are essential to burn treatment, significantly influencing patient recovery by enhancing both physical and psychological results. This review highlights the significance of evidence-based approaches and ongoing nursing education in enhancing burn treatment.
